This page showcases works that have been completed during my time in university. I tried to make use of my time there to pick up and experience as many skills and mediums as I could, from motion design to digital sculpting and computer aided design. I will admit that I struggled with finding a unique style as a designer and illustrator and never really thought about its importance up until recently, and I feel like it would be essential when it comes to standing out in the industry. Here, I have tried to arrange my work in chronological order, with the most recent one on top.
Society of Performance
This was the final assignment of the semester and it was a part of a module called Illustration for Designers. We were required to make our own magazine covers with an open topic, and mine was about corporate culture and how everyone adopts a curated persona of themselves and how offices become stages for identity.

OVOL Calendar Design Competition
This illustration titled "What if We Lived Underwater?" got me a podium finish at the annual OVOL Calendar Design Competition. It was inspired by the 14th SDG about Life Below Water and envisions underwater flats around Singapore, powered by water currents and designed to protect marine life by drawing on projects like artificial reefs.

Learning the DSLR
I got to properly learn how to handle a DSLR camera and edit pictures in the digital photography module. Our assignments included a self portrait, documentary photo as well as a final assignment where the topic was free for us to choose. This module not only exposed me to the basics of handling a digital camera, but also gave me more opportunities to work on my conceptual thinking which I thought was important when it came to coming up with ideas.
For my final assignment I decided to do a documentary series of the car community in Singapore, which led me to becoming a part of the media team of an autocross event called SprintFest.

Newspaper formatting
The editorial module gave me the opportunity to format a newspaper and I practiced playing around with grid layouts and organising information for easy understanding. With half the content about scientific information, I tried to make some illustrations of my own so that information could be easily digested. Heck, even I couldn't absorb all that on its own. I had fun with this despite the tight timeline but I wish I had more opportunities to do this sort of thing. Click on the smaller pictures to view them in detail!

Carousel Book
The second editorial assignment of the semester, which was making a carousel book from scratch. We were required to write short stories for kids and they had to be educational. I decided to write one about two brothers fighting over a peace of candy while destroying buildings in an imaginary world in the process. The moral of the story revolves around humility, where sometimes it's just better to back down than cause unnecessary trouble.

Sundown Festival Rebranding Project
This visual communication assignment required us to rebrand a music festival by producing a number of deliverables. The theme was left us to us and I went with something a little more retro. I redesigned the logo and made mockups for magazine ads, invitations, webpages and bus vinyls.

First Website
I disliked coding because I never understood it. So I took a web design module to try and redeem myself. The website was meant to be a place for undergraduates and graduates from ADM to showcase their school work, and a place for employers to visit to scout for new potential. However, judging by the final product and looking at everyone else's, I think this is a skill I will have to revisit again. The website worked, but I think there is a lot I could improve on especially when it comes to aesthetics and usability.

First Maya experience
Another skill I would like to continue working on in the future. I decided to challenge myself to take on 3D production to add a skill to my arsenal. The module exposed us to modelling, rigging, UV unwrapping, texturing and animation. There have been moments where I felt I would never get it done but I quite enjoyed seeing everything come together at the end, especially when it came to editing the final product of the animation.

Learning After Effects
I got to try my hand at After Effects and I'm glad I still continue to use it after to edit videos. The module had two major assignments and I think you would be able to see the difference between my first assignment and my second one. The first assignment required us to create an animation about a fun fact while the second would represent a brand of our preference.

Absolute Peranakan
I got to create a font based on a community of my choice. In this module I was challenging myself to break out of my comfort zone and work on something that didn't really align with my interests. Nonetheless, it was still something that mattered so I decided to put some effort in. My font is dedicated to the Peranakan community and it's characteristics are inspired my Peranakan motifs and fashion. I tried to bring out the vibrance and gracefulness of Peranakan culture in the letters but the biggest challenge was trying to make the proportions look balanced and legible. Having all the characters look like they were part of the same typeface also took a considerable amount of time but it was such a good experience because I was making something new.
